The Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) has officially granted regulatory approval to Air Tanzania, marking another milestone in Seychelles’ air connectivity.
The approval letter was formally handed over by the Chief Executive Officer of SCAA, Garry Albert, to the Honorary Consul of Seychelles to Tanzania, Maryvonne Pool, during a short ceremony held at the SCAA Head Office, D’Offay Building, Providence. The ceremony was also attended by key personnel who had been directly involved in the regulatory and technical assessment process leading to the airline’s approval.
Following this approval, Air Tanzania is set to commence scheduled direct flights between Julius Nyerere International Airport and Seychelles International Airport, operating three times weekly. The service is expected to begin on 1 April 2026, further strengthening air links between Tanzania and Seychelles.
In accordance with its mandate, SCAA conducted a thorough evaluation of the airline’s application, ensuring full compliance with applicable international aviation standards relating to safety, security, and operational readiness. This approval reflects the Authority’s continued role in safeguarding the integrity of Seychelles’ airspace while enabling the responsible expansion of air services.

It also supports broader national efforts to diversify tourism markets and deepen regional integration. As the regulator, we remain committed to facilitating market access for operators while ensuring that compliance with safety and security standards are upheld at all times,” stated CEO SCAA, Garry Albert.
The new route is expected to improve accessibility between the two destinations, creating additional opportunities for tourism growth, business travel, and trade.
Passengers travelling on the route are expected to benefit from modern onboard services, with Air Tanzania set to deploy wide-body aircraft, offering enhanced comfort and capacity. Beyond the onboard experience, the service significantly improves connectivity options for travelers, providing seamless connections to key destinations within Tanzania and the wider region, while also gaining access to emerging markets in Asia and the Middle East. This means passengers can more easily combine their trips with other travel experiences, whether for business, leisure, or visiting family and friends, while enjoying smoother and more efficient journey options.
